What a difference just 24 hours can make. Tuesday I would probably have benefited from a time out. I was in a funk. I started letting everything upset me and stress me out. I was absolutely homesick and worried so much about Brett ~ and her surgery. I was missing my kids & missing the conveniences of home. Nothing was coming together (how I thought) or how I planned. But, after a good cry and meltdown (maybe my other 1/2 that I was anticipating having) things got better. As far as the house, my daughter Kailee & my bf Kim both reminded me; we bought a “hundred” year old Italian home… let it be what it is. And I decided to understand the phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day”…..seriously. I think I can just get everything completed all at once, it’s never going to happen. Letting go of that, is key. Letting go of ALL OF THAT … or Mike might let go of me 🙂
My mood and outlook completely changed after dinner. I felt connected to such wonderful new friends, I felt like we belonged in this strange place. As silly as it sounds…it felt like all the overwhelming stressful stuff just wasn‘t so upsetting anymore. Like our plumbing & electric issues. I told them “we found our people”. It truly was a lovely evening. They even explained to us a major, but simple thing we could do to help our electricity issues. Our home isn’t receiving enough power come to find out. When we had the electric turned on, it automatically goes to 3 kw. We’re blowing fuses if 2+ things are running. A call to the electric company (with the assistance of our generous friends) to request an increase to 5 kw would fix this issue!! They also offered some better WiFi options and a local company’s info. It took their service only 5 days to be connected (instead of the 30+ days at the company we tried) ….
Back to feeling blessed and no regrets.
Plumbing probs…
Our other neighbor Giovanni graciously stopped over with a local licensed (Italian only speaking) plumber. He helped translate what Mike had to convey back as far as what is happening. It appears we have a corroded pipe, it will require inside work to start. He hopes it may take 3 hours of labor. He said he could come tomorrow on Saturday 9:00 am! Perfect… now let’s pray when he removes the wall & floor tiles (to access the plumbing) that’s all that’s required. So stay tuned on that!
