Yesterday was a very long & emotional day. With the 6 hr time difference, my daughter Brett wasn’t taking into surgery until almost 1:00 pm Boston time. I got the call she was out of surgery around 6:00 pm and waited to talk to her in recovery hours later. I know the surgery all too well myself & all 4 of my children have suffered through it. So waiting to hear her voice 5000 miles away was necessary, before I could go to bed. Then the poor thing was in awful pain all night and post op sickness. Luckily we could receive text back and forth all night…wishing I was there holding her hair & hands. The journey of healing now begins. It can take several months to 18 months for the nerves to wake up & recover. So, continued prayers are appreciated xo. Thank you Jesus yesterday is over ❤️.
With yesterday a day of so much stress & worry, today we ventured out to find serenity. We heard about “Lago Del Turano” and “Castel Di Tora” . Let me tell you pictures and words don’t do this incredible place of beauty justice. We left our village and drove up and down mountainside roads. It only is about 15 miles, but 35-40 minutes away through the mountain roads. Not bad at all. Actually hard to tell how far because every turn I had to pull over and take a picture. We were literally the only car … some cows and Great Pyrenees dogs were with us. Our Gracie Girl was a Pyrenese (she passed 10/26/18).
Back to the lake, we tried to find this the other day and we were unsuccessful. Going further up this mountain road I thought for sure we were lost again. Well all of a sudden you come around the last turn and see the most magnificent view off in the distance. This gorgeous lake, a village below and a castle on the next hillside. Connecting the two is a bridge.
We stopped along the hairpin turns so I could jump out and take photos. Looking over my shoulder for a Great Pyrenees who would no doubt think I was an intruder. They’re the most gentle giant guardian dogs ever! Trying to upload these magnificent photos for you to enjoy. If you’re ever in the central Italy area, please make it a point to visit Lago Del Turano. You will not regret it!! It’s early March and we’re about 2 of 10 other visitors just sitting. Obviously, we are in the middle of a pandemic. You forget when you are just living your best life over here in Italy.Anyway, I assume in the summer this is a hot spot! There’s a swimming pier and plenty of area to have a picnic lunch. Such a hidden treasure full of incredible views all around. There is a little village with a bar, restaurant and such.
Enjoy your day! I can’t wait to see the photos my camera got!! Count your blessings and enjoy the simple things.
