I have so many photos to upload. Mike and I walked around the village a few days just in awe of the character surrounding us. The old wooden doors on the homes are worthy of their own praise. The arched details, the stunning wrought iron – such incredible craftsmanship! Not everyone appreciates such things, Mike is a carpenter and so he and I love this kind of detail. I could look at old doors all day long.

We were lucky to have our own charming double entry front door at the house. However, it leads straight into the kitchen which has absolutely no direct sunlight. No windows and just gives the kitchen a cave like feeling. Especially with the dark wood ceiling and dark beams. We plan to replace the doors with a new glass panel to allow the sunlight in and give better natural light throughout the kitchen. I think Mike and I can come up with a pretty unique idea for repurposing the old doors. They are beautiful, thick solid wood. I’d love to hear your ideas of what we could do with them?
Walking down from the main piazza your first sight is the enormous arch, inviting you to come further. You are immediately taken by the colors, the muted tones of stucco, brick and aged stone. The cobblestone streets lead you down winding, narrow turns, inviting you to take a peak around each and every corner. Luckily for us one day, we did just that. We needed a break from the renovation work inside & I needed to clear my head, as Brett was in Boston undergoing major vascular surgery. On this walk, around that corner we met our new amazing friends ~ our new neighbors!
On these walks, the things that caught my eye most were the different doors and the flower pots. There is something to be said about a flower pot on an old stone, brick home that just speaks old world charm. While out on our walks several things ran through our minds;
#1 We can call this beautiful village Poggio Nativo home
#2 The history behind these walls is beyond our imagination
#3 How blessed are we
As I sit here so happy to be “home” I am missing our “home away from home”. So much to take in. The month we were there was a marathon it seems. We spent so much time running back and forth into Rome to “Bricoman” and “Leroy Merlin”. We were in the home improvement stores almost as much as we were in the house itself. It’s all good! We got to experience so much in that time. I’m reminiscing

on the beautiful images I saw daily in our village. Until I can return, I will enjoy some beautiful photography I took. Doors and flower pots of Poggio Nativo. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.
Ciao friends.
