Yesterday was a catch up day. We ran a few errands and tried to just ignore that fact that we have a major water leak. Nobody seemed to be worried about it, why should the Smarties. Luckily, Mike figured out by shutting the main valve outside off, he could keep the kitchen & upstairs bathroom working. Our bathroom downstairs is a no go. Well, we can Laura & Pa Ingles it and dump water into the tank for a quick flush. Perfect for scaredy cat Kerri, in the middle of the night. I will not go upstairs alone. So 1 of 2 bathrooms working, kitchen sink working, no laundry as the wash is in our bathroom. Overall not bad right? …. just wait it’s only Saturday.
So, we head up Via Regina Elena to go to 1 of 3 local stores for draino. Nope not today. It’s Sunday they’re closed. Joke is on us. No shower for Smartie today! But, on our way back we walked down some alleys and streets we didn’t even know existed. Wait until I upload the photos. It’s beyond beautiful. We’re still feeling blessed. Despite the problems with electric & plumbing … you know those main things, everything else is good. Actually the electric is just what it is. Brett’s bf Chris (his dad Rich is a plumber) he would be grabbing a rum & coke for this job!! My most recent job in Massachusetts was a billing clerk for Bill, Mr. Plumbrite, a master plumber. Bill will love this story! A high school friend, Luana who lives here in Italy has an updated system and apparently still blows fuses. So it is what is is girlfriend. The water situation should be dealt with tomorrow we pray. The house is plenty large enough for us, our 4 grown kids, their significant others (when the time comes) and family & friends. I’m loving the character and charm and authenticity of it. The village has what we need, a local Conad grocery store (very similar to Aldi) and a small cafe for cappuccino all within walking distance. We have a bus stop right here, we just have to figure it out. So we don’t sing that song while on it… “the wheels on the bus go round & round.”
